Leadreship and babysitting
The best managers I worked with understood a very tricky rule:
🧭 Leadership ≠ babysitting
Being a leader means you care — genuinely care — about your team’s growth, well-being, and success.
But here’s the catch: you’re not their babysitter.
Great leadership is about trust and empowerment, not micromanagement and hand-holding. Leader is there to support, guide, and remove barriers — not to hover over every task or fix every minor hiccup.
What to do:
✅ Check-in, but don’t check-up every hour
✅ Coach, don’t coddle
✅ Give clarity, not control
✅ Celebrate wins, but also let people stumble and learn
When you care too little, trust breaks down.
When you care too much (in the wrong way), autonomy vanishes.
The art is in the balance.
Leave the babysitting for actual babies👶
